The DragonFlowers Delta Kite
A Signature Series Kite
from . . .
About the kite:
The DragonFlowers is the first delta kite we have made in our 'Signature Series'. The black is screen printed, but all of the other colours are hand painted by Anne. This allows her to make each one a different combination of colours. She determines this in consultaion with the customer when they order the kite. This does mean that one has to allow us enough time to complete the kite after it is ordered. Because of the extra work involved (and to keep Anne from hating them as she makes them!) we will only make an edition of fifteen of these kites.
We have already made four of these kites (the very first one was an 'artist's proof' for the Port Colborne Canal Days Kite Festival and thus not part of the editiion), and have two more on order, so only nine more will be made. The popularity of this kite before we even got it on our web site is startling to us. Thank you everyone.
I hadn't got it up on the site before now as I was waiting for a small essay from Anne about where the ideas from the design came from, but can wait no longer. Anyone wishing to know more will have to ask her themselves!
The DragonFlowers comes in only the one size - Large - 11 foot wingspan, 11 feet from nose to tail-tips.
The sail fabric is Contender Nylite, made without the resin coating (this allows better dye uptake and stronger colours). The frame is spiral-wound epoxy tubing (solid fibreglass wing spars on the Small only.
This kite flies easily in any wind above 3-4 mph.
